Gatsby Street Style: New Yorkers Celebrate the 1920s

ELLE.COM reports....

They may have happened 90 years ago, but the Roaring '20s are officially back—at least where fashion is concerned. From Ralph Lauren's Downton Abbey-inspired collection to the latest Great Gatsby film (and its many product tie-ins with brands like Tiffany & Co.), it's getting harder to resist the urge for bow lips and fringe.

Enter the Jazz Age Lawn Party, a yearly gathering on New York's Governor's Island. The eighth annual event (which happened last weekend, as well as August 17 and 18) welcomes '20s enthusiasts and features big bands, Charleston dance-offs, pie baking contests, and (this year, especially) a lot of fashion masqueraders. In between gin cocktails and rolled stockings, ELLE.com searched for the best speakeasy style—and found that although vintage is best, '90s slip dresses can also be repurposed. "Don't tell, but mine is from Free People," whispered a fashion-forward party-goer at the picnic.

She needn't worry: Much like a bootlegger's address, her secret is safe with us...

Sad Tragedy at Hugo Boss

Hugo Boss had to cancell is London Men's Collection that was due to be held on June 17th after a 4 year old boy was killed by a mirror during the label's Bicester Village outlet store on June 4.
Hugo Boss is trying to avoid planning a party so soon after the death of the boy as it would be "innappropriate" and would certainly not reflect Hugo Boss in the best light.
Such tragedies can surely happen. It is not clear what the family will get from the multinational luxury brand, but such things do happen in the fashion industry (as well as other industries) and I think it's a smart move to withhold the collection show for at least a month and a half.

Party Makeup: Inspire

Eyelash extensions have become a lovely trend that women and young ladies yearn to wear. They allow you to obtain a super feminine look with the simplest eye shadow lines and you can also stick crystal accessories on them. Eyelash extensions come in many colors, basically brown and black. They give you the festive looks needed for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and they suit all costumes and evening dresses.

Another trend has appeared to create fabulous eye makeup designs: eye beads and crystal accessories. Eye beads come as tiny colored pearls and crystals which you stick around your eye or on your eyelashes to get beautiful artwork. Such beads can be used with or without long eyelashes, eye makeup, and eye shadow drawings due to the feminine look they give. Some people use liquid eye glitter or common glitter which they stick around the eyes in artistic patterns. The same 3 ideas can be done on any part of your body, but are mostly done on the neck and face to complete the look with the eye makeup.
